Open Show

Overview

For over 50 years, the Newbury and District Dog Training Society has staged the Newbury and District Open Obedience Show. It is held every year on the second Sunday in June.

An Open Show is one step up from a Companion Dog Show, the difference being that Open Show competitors must be Kennel Club registered and the standard is generally a little higher. Anyone can compete his or her dog in an Open Show providing it is registered with the Kennel Club, either in Breed or as a working Trials/Obedience dog (Activity); it does not need a pedigree. To register your dog, visit the Kennel Club website at the-kennel-club.org.uk and click on “Dog Register”.

At the Newbury Open Show, the classes range from Introductory up to Class C. You must enter at the lowest class for which your dog qualifies. For more information, see How to Enter.

We are proud of the standard of our show and deeply grateful to all judges and stewards who maintain this standard when they provide their services.

How to Enter

The Schedule includes the entry form and is available for download from around the March preceding the show up until the closing date for entries.  Please see Obedience UK or With Your Dog sites.

Or you can download a generic entry form from www.the-kennel-club.org.uk and clicking on Schedules and Entries. Please use the Open and Limited Obedience Show Entry Form.

The rules and regulations are detailed in the Schedule.

Visitors

Visitors to the open show are most welcome. There is no fee, however for insurance reasons, to bring your dog with you, you must first fill in an entry form for it (see How to Enter above) and send it to us by the entry closing date.
