The Newbury and District Dog Training Society started in 1962 as a non-profit making organisation. It is Kennel Club registered and insured. As an established and experienced club, it is dedicated to the traditional approach to dog training, using encouragement and rewards.
In addition to running regular training classes, the society organises the Newbury and District Open Obedience Show. The society is also involved in a number of dog welfare issues and has a wealth of experience with re-homed or rescue dogs.
Our team of instructors and advisors have many years experience of training dogs and have competed up to class C in Obedience shows and also been one of the leading judges in England from beginners to Class C. They also have a range of other qualifications including canine first aid qualifications, canine behavioural qualifications and competitive Rally O experience, as well as training dogs for film work. We also have some instructors who are studying for their Kennel Club Approved Instructor qualification which is a 5 year commitment.
We were proud to be hosts of The England Dog Obedience Team World Cup Trials and Selection from 2006 until the World Cup was disbanded in 2016.
