Your puppy may attend our puppy training classes as soon as it has finished its course of injections. In addition to the formal training, the classes are an ideal opportunity for your puppy to develop social skills with other puppies as well as for you to meet like minded people.
If you have re-homed a dog, either this or the basic class will be suitable; please come with your dog so we can advise you.
Handlers of any age are welcome.
The puppy training course runs once a week over six weeks. It covers the basic commands:
Sit Stay (owner walks away)
Heel work (including weave)
Recall (dog returns to you)
Finish (dog sits next to you)
The course is taken by Roy Hammersley who is a very experienced handler, trainer and obedience judge.
Where, When and How Much?
Classes are held on Monday evenings and start at 7pm at Chieveley Village Hall
(indoors). Sessions last about 30 minutes. It is recommended that you arrive 15 minutes earlier to give your dog a chance to settle and socialise with the other puppies. There is also a playing field in front of the Hall to let the dogs run off a little steam before the class.
It costs £30 for the 6 week course due to limited numbers, all puppy classes must be booked and paid for in advance. We can accept cheques and cash but, sorry, no credit nor debit cards. Please check the calendar
to view the start dates of the each course.
What to Bring
For each class, we recommend that you bring along:
Your puppy wearing a collar or half check collar
A lead (preferably leather)
A bag of small treats (which are also available for 50p)
A favourite toy
Clean up materials
We also suggest that you wear trousers and comfortable shoes.
For the safety of your puppy and others, we require the full course of vaccinations to be completed prior to attending. Additionally, we cannot allow bitches in season.
